The Yellow Blaze (Otopharynx lithobates) is a beautifully colored cichlid which originates from Lake Victoria in Africa. These fish are, however, captive bred (by my dad) and have been hybridized to produce a darker blue body creating a very nice contrast to the bright yellow blaze running over the head all the way down to the tail.
Males typically reach a length of 4” to 5” while the females are smaller in size and remain a duller silver, without the brilliant colors shown by males. However, it should be noted that by keeping a pair, the male will naturally show much more color than he would if kept without a female.
