The Synodontis eupterus is known for its enormous and exquisitely arching dorsal fin: hence the common name Featherfin Squeaker. As juveniles they have a light brown body covered in a dark reticulated pattern which changes, as they mature, into eye catching dark spots. Also known as the Featherfin Squeaker, because of the noises they make while communicating, they reach a maximum length of 8 inches in the aquarium.
A naturally nocturnal bottom feeder from the White Nile and Chad river basins, it likes foraging for food at night and, therefore, is more active in a twilight aquarium and fed a diet of sinking pellets which provide them a more natural feeding experience.
They have the same water parameters and aquarium design as African Cichlids and so make excellent tank mates.
