Synodontis angelicus

Synodontis angelicus is the prize of all Synodontis catfish. Also referred to as the Polka Dot Squeaker Cat, because of the noise it can sometimes be heard making, it is very rare in the wild (found in Western Africa among slow-moving rivers) and extremely difficult to breed in captivity. These fish, which I sell, come from the only breeder in the United States.

It is a stunning catfish that makes a suitable tankmate for most tanks as they are peaceful, but not delicate, and able to defend themselves. As it is nocturnal, it may not venture out of the rock work much during daylight, (needs a cave which can be something as simple as a PVC pipe to call home) but as evening approaches you will find the fish hurrying along the substrate in search of food.

Not a fussy eater, even foods like cucumber and squash (weighed down on the tank bottom) are nibbled at. Pellet feeds are best as it is a bottom feeder. It will not grow to be larger than maybe 7” in an aquarium.
