The Red Devil cichlid (Amphilophus labiatus) also known as Midas Cichlid, is native to Central America and known for it’s aggressive behavior and distinctive bright red coloration. They are one of the larger cichlids and can grow up to 12” with a sloping forehead and very pronounced mouth which extends outwards. A mature male will often develop a nuchal hump on its forehead.
It is a striking fish and also known for its intelligence, and ability to recognize its owner.
