The Lyonsi Cichlid (amphilophus lyonsi), also known as the Loiselle’s or Lyonsi Cichlid, is a striking Central American species admired for its bold patterning and intense coloration. Adults develop vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows that makes them stand out in any large aquarium. These cichlids are intelligent and territorial, especially as they mature, and are best kept with similarly sized, robust tankmates or as a bonded pair. They typically reach 10–12 inches and appreciate spacious tanks with hiding spots, sturdy décor, and clean, well-filtered water. Omnivorous by nature, they accept high-quality pellets along with frozen or live foods to maintain their vivid colors and health.
