The Gold Ram (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) is a beautiful color variant of the German Blue Ram, selectively bred for its golden-yellow body with subtle blue highlights and red accents around the fins and eyes. This dwarf cichlid stays small, usually reaching about 2–3 inches (5–7.5 cm) in length.
Known for their peaceful nature compared to larger cichlids, Gold Rams do well in community aquariums with other calm species. They are omnivores and thrive on a diet of high-quality flakes or pellets, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
They prefer warm, soft water, with an ideal temperature range of 78–85°F. A planted tank with hiding places and stable water conditions helps them display their best colors.
