The Geophagus brasiliansis is a highly sought-after freshwater fish. Also known as the Pearl Cichlid because of the stunningly lustrous blue colored "pearl" patterns it displays on its scales as an adult. It makes for a true gem in the fish enthusiasts's aquarium.
Males can grow up to 8" in length and females to abut 6". Like all earth-eaters, a sandy substrate is necessary for their eating habit of sifting through the bottom of the tank for food. Moderately aggressive, they will get along with other Geophagus of the same size, as well as a variety of catfish.
Water Conditions:
6 - 8 pH
2 - 14 KH

Breeding: Captive bred on our farm.

I was skeptical about them being shipped 2nd day. They came alive!! Yea! They are healthy and eating. Tank lights were turned off when they arrived at 11:30 to 6pm when I got home. They ate as soon as I arrived. They have been looking around the tank get acquainted. Overall, 5 stars to The fish Farmer’s daughter. Great job! Packaging was great too.
