The ultimate centerpiece fish, Geophagus altifrons are known for their intense vertical banding coloration of, gold-orange to blue-green, iridescent scales on their flanks. The most important item of decor in a tank for this species is a soft, sandy substrate so the fish can browse for food naturally. They are eartheaters, benthophagous by nature, feeding by taking mouthfuls of sand and sifting for edible items and expelling the remaining material via their gill openings and mouth.
Surprisingly peaceful, they will not predate on fish larger than a few millimeters in length and so make good tank mates. A gregarious fish, they tend to exist in small schools, especially as juveniles.
Water Conditions:
5 - 8 pH
72 - 83 F
2 - 15 KH
Breeding: Captive bred on our farm.

Packaged extremely well (I live in cali she ships from Florida) and great with communication. Ordered six, all arrived healthy and in two days time were already past the skittish phase. Will be ordering again in the future.
