The Dimerus (Cichlasoma dimerus), sometimes referred to as the Chanchita, has a brilliant metallic-green to light-blue body with hints of red in their fin.
It is one of the best South American cichlids for a community tank as it is peaceful, hardy and males grow to a maximum size of 5”. A very prolific fish, with biparental care of the fry, this would be an easy starter fish for someone wanting to breed their own.
