The Albino Iridescent Shark is named for the eye-catching iridescence sheen of their (scaleless) skin, especially obvious in the juvenile stage, as well as their shark-like silhouette. An albino iridescent shark is whitish-pink in color and has red eyes.

Despite it’s name this is really a catfish, Pangasianodon hypophthalmus, which is found naturally in the rivers of Southeast Asia.

Very peaceful in temperament they are also schooling fish so do well in small groups, not to mention look beautiful swimming around in the middle of the tank. An active fish, it is also timid and if it feels danger will pretend to be dead. **Remember this if you open your box and find the fish floating upside down in the bag of water.** They also tend to be a bit skittish and are known to jump out of a tank when startled, so a secure tank lid is essential.

Iridescent sharks can grow to be quite large; however, their size is influenced by the size of the aquarium they are kept in, as well as the number of fish and amount fed. Not picky eaters, they can be fed a high quality, flake-based diet.

Avoid any aggressive tank mates, as Iridescent sharks don’t have the gumption to fight back.
